[yes hello welcome to the void. it's monday so she's probably wandering around the new locations, she has a new outfit and is getting ready to head out.]
[ the dedication to uncomfortable heels is what makes this outfit great and not just good. lucien is much less buttoned up, but he still has most of the tattoos covered at this point. ]
I said it at the trial. A splinter. Removeable, but perhaps needs a bit of work to fix. We're allowed to ask for non-monetary compensation here.
Can we all cease this pretend game where we claim that "magic" and "technology" are two completely different things that do not interact or crossover in any meaningful way. It's silly and it is giving me a migraine.
[ no, we can never do that. ]
Of course it's fucking bad. Would you-- [ he sighs and does a little circle pace, like he can't stay still. ] Would you enjoy being "brain slugged"? That's not a problem for you? Watching your body move without your will and make decisions you would never choose, destroy what you've built. Being the puppet of something else, an invader, who doesn't give a whit for your life or who you care about.
It's not a good brain slug. It lived for a few months and died stupidly and it deserved what it received. It had its chance to do what it liked and squandered it.
[hmm. not to metagame with zuko's wikipedia entry, but something about the specific way he's describing this does remind her of skip. someone who just wanted a chance to see the world for a while, not serve a greater purpose.]
Like I said, it accomplished nothing, then died on the side of a road in the middle of nowhere.
I'd have even respected the opportunity for a parasite to gain a body, I know the unwritten rules of the treasure hunter, but his so-called friends can't be holding onto something that doesn't rightfully belong to them.

[well, that's not such a bad bargain.]
I hate to be a pessimist, but seeing how well everything on this ship functions, you're sure you want them doing brain surgery?

well.
that's kind of fair. ]
... That's not the point. Besides it's-- a magical problem.

But anyway, this splinter - it's that bad? You're worth risking a lot to get rid of it?

[magic is silly and fake though.]
I definitely would not enjoy being brain slugged, no. But I've also met brain slugs who are good people. I might be able to work things out with them.
