[ yeah, he's definitely not using a needle. he pulls out his multitool, flips out the blade and draws it across the fat pad of his thumb (not his palm!!!! that's such a good way to permanently injure the tendons of your hand even if its for cool blood rituals!!!!), takes the plunger off of the syringe, and lets it drop in there. ]
