I don't either, truthfully. We're a bunch of people who've been stuck together for weeks up in each other's business with no real space to breathe. Of course everyone wants to know about everyone else's affairs.
Thanks. [ zero irony, but he also isn't serious. ] ...Viktor was one of the first people to actually be kind to me and be someone I can talk to about some things. Obviously I was going to be curious about anything involving him. I guess I didn't think of how much you were also involved with him.
I can imagine. [ normally this would sound sarcastic, probably, but he does actually sound sincere about this. he thinks there are a few things that overlap for the three of them in ways that aren't entirely obvious. ] It doesn't hurt that he's easy to talk to.
[ but he shrugs. besides the point. ]
...nevertheless...we have him back. That's a step in the right direction.
[ answers this first just in case this changes lucien's opinion about him. also don't just ask like that? but he doesn't seem offended, given the way he sort of lets his lips quirk up into a grin even as he's busy watching a few stray butterflies for a second. ]
Mm...we don't have time to unpack all of it. [ because even shoma can recognize his entire existence is. a nightmare. but the most important and relevant he thinks is... ] I was genetically modified when I was a kid and now I'm stuck in this body and essentially immortal for the rest of my life.
[ well, it's a nightmare, but it doesn't like. dramatically alter lucien's opinion except confirm some things for him. mostly that he liked shoma just fine and he normally strongly dislikes children, so it makes sense that he's ... probably not a kid ... ]
I see. So a new body.
[ at least, that is the crossover he can see between the three of them. an assumption maybe. ]
[ well. about that. he sort of waggles his hand a bit. ]
More like this is the same body I've had for the last six years, and will continue to have. But my brain's still evolving and I'm "technically" aging. [ ... ] Viktor wanted to find a way to extend his life and make his body stronger and work again. I want to find a way to shorten mine and make myself age again. You can see where our interests might've crossed.
I see. I suppose I've never had perfect control over this body myself. [ he briefly looks at his hands, where the eyes are. ] Did you make any progress?
[ the thing about this is that he can, at least, take it as a joke given the way he kind of smirks. ]
Somehow I've managed to avoid that particular route. [ nobody wants to kill a "12 year old", it seems. but...hum. ]
...I've been doing research on my own outside of all of the work we've been doing on our group projects. [ role shit. ] When the modifications were initially made, I didn't know about them. The guy who rewrote my genetic code told me I had some rare disease and that I was going to die if I didn't let him treat me. By the time I figured out that was a lie it was already too late. I'd go back and just force him to tell me how to fix it, but he's been dead for a few years. [ a sip of his coffee, though he is looking at the extra eyes on lucien's hands thoughtfully. ] I've read some things that might be avenues I can pursue. But nothing I've been able to really research and attempt yet.

We have a bit in common.
[ tilting his head to the side. ]
I didn't expect anyone to think of me at all, it was beside the point.

[ yeah honestly everyone here is a freak but there are a lot of freaks with shockingly similar freak experiences. ]
Well? What is your damage in that case?
[ dont just ask ... thats rude ... ]
